Malcolm MacKinnon, also known as “Dan Skye,” has been published in over 200 publications worldwide. His massive archive features portraiture, scenic photography, cannabis art and images of modern Native American life. He has interviewed and photographed a wide range of celebrities.
He is the former editor-in-chief of HIGH TIMES. In his 25-year career with the magazine, he traveled nearly a million miles in pursuit of stories becoming the most prolific photographer in the magazine’s history. He shot over 40 covers for HIGH TIMES and his archive of cannabis photography is unrivaled.
He has covered Native American issues for over 30 years and has interviewed and photographed numerous leaders. He covered the case of Leonard Peltier extensively. Peltier, who was released from prison in February 2025, became an outstanding painter behind bars and used several of Malcolm’s photographs to inspire his paintings. 
His book Pot Shots: The Journey of a HIGH TIMES Photographer, released last year, features over 300 stirring images that chronicle his colorful career.
